Does anyone out there remember the Schwinn Corvette? In the early '60s, my father bought a Schwinn Corvette and had a 5 speed cluster built for it. It was unreal! A mid weight bike with gears! I eventually replaced it with a Schwinn Varsity. But I'll always fondly remember the Corvette.

The Corvette had the standard Schwinn cruiser "aero" forks, with one difference: they had brake bosses. My stock forks on my Typhoon did not. When I decided to mount front brakes on my old bike, I used an adapter that bolted in to the fender bolt hole, but that meant I could never again mount a fender.

But last year I bought a set of 'Vette forks, had them powdercoated and decalled, and I just picked up a set of NOS sidepull brakes to fit those bosses. I already have a set of quick-detach fenders that will work with this arrangement. Very soon old Humma Hah will be able to mount a front fender again, for rainy days like today.

All three speeds. One black (a 57), two red (a 63 and I don't know what the other was), and one blue (a 58). Good for cruising around campus.
