I just saw your message and checked the link, but the auction was closed already. I search eBay just about every day for Merckx frames and this never came up. Appreciate the heads up though. I am still looking for a Merckx, but I am seriously considering ordering a custom frame with Merckx geometry or a Colnago from Maestro-uk. It's just too much trouble trying to find a Merckx in my size and I'm getting tired of looking.
It's relisted. nmDave Hickey

I need a 56 c-c. I'm not totally convinced the MX Leader would be the right frame for me as it is very stiff. Ive been looking for a Corsa 0.1 but might settle for a MX Leader if the price was right. Ironically, I had found a very nice MX Leader in my size on eBay last month and passed up bidding on it because I was in the process (so I thought) of buying a Corsa from someone. Then the Corsa seller backed out at the last minute, and the MX Leader was gone by then.

I have just about convinced myself that my search for a decent 56 steel Merckx is a futile effort. I'm trying to convince my wife right now that I need to spend $1,000 on a new frame, and if successful will probably order a Colnago Master Lite. It is similar in geometry to a Merckx, and more importantly -- you can actually buy them. Or, I might just decide to order a custom Anvil or Landshark. That's even more money, but I can get exactly what I want.
here is a 56 c-c MerckxFrank121

This is it relisted. He said 58 c-t which should be about right at 56 c-c right?
Although the one mentioned below
Is really a clean specimen of a TSX tube model.

Wish my MXL was you size I would make you a killer deal.
But it is a 55 c-t
It is a great frame & mine is as new but since getting the Look 381i I am in total nirvana. This geometry just works for me better than anything I have ever ridden period.
Flying, contact me about your Merckx pleaseFrank121

One of the perils of buying used is that you have to take what you can get with regards to color, etc. My problem is that the Corsa 0.1 that I was trying to buy was like new (NOS), a color I liked (yellow and orange), a good price ($500) and just the right size. So, I end up comparing everything to that.

The MX Leader might be the right size since the seller listed the seat tube center-top. But I don't like the color scheme, and as I've learned more about Merckx bikes, I don't think the Leader would be the best frame for me. It is heavier than other models and very stiff, while I am more interested in comfort. However, if it was red or yellow, I would probably follow up on it.

The Merckx anniversary bike is probably fairly priced if I was looking for a collector's item and wanted the jersey that comes with it. However, I don't really like the color scheme, and I want the bike to ride -- not hang on wall. The jersey would do me no good because it's way too small. I'm surprised the seller didn't list it separately. For the $650-800 the seller is trying to get, I would be more inclined to buy a new frame.

Picky, picky ... I know. I'm starting to think that what I need to do is just bite the bultet and order a new frame in the color and size I want. Shopping for used frames is just too much work. I keep finding frames that are the right model and color, but too small or large. Then when I find something the right size, I don't like the color or it's in lousy condition or overpriced. It's funny, before I started seriously looking for a Merckx frame, I remembered seeing them sell all the time in the $250-400 range on eBay. Since I decided to buy one, the supply has dried up. There was one frame that came up for sale during July (the same color scheme as Spiritos -- pearl with red) and it eventually sold for $280, but I was on vacation at the time and couldn't bid on it because I was on the road. I actually bought a used Merckx off eBay for $400 in April, but it was in much worse condition than described by the seller (dings, dents, paint scuffs) and I returned it to the owner for a refund.
