congratulation's flavinho, Brasil and football the world over. Class and beauty.

after the strange events that are still Unexplained from 4 years ago Ronaldo is back as the Phenomenon and the football world is richer. Has a footballer ever gone from such highs to such lows and come back to blaze the world with pure talent and strength ......yet while still so young. I doubt it. he will be our Pele to talk about for our grandchildren and the living mystique has another world cup at least to play. Phenomenon - amazing.

the first 20 mins of the second half were electric and the game was still even and then the man with what must be the worst haircut in football stepped up to make history - TWICE !!!!!

even better is that Brasil were confident and enjoying their games all the way through. what a tournament of surprises and glory for many teams that are infants to the world stage.

Germany did well to get to the final as many would not have said they could and im sure every brasilian couldnt dream for a better result with Brasil winning and Argentina home after the first round. old scores there.

champions as well are Senegal, S Korea, Ireland and Turkey.

now i can get some fXXXin sleep ....... before the TdF.
i even like the haircut!!colker

man... the ball that rivaldo let just.. go to ronaldo's feet is one of those moments of finnesse, grace, art in sport.
brasil was blessed really. i've never seen the national team so sure of themselves. germany is no easy cake! dangerous team.
i've met ronaldo once. so charismatic, such a good boy. no wonder powerfull and sophisticated people fall for him. he is God in italy.

how could i forget the US team.

i have never even considered them as watchable or capable of going thru to the 2nd round. i now eat my words and have changed my tune. they played well and were good to watch.

about time the US has taken hold as football team as this country has been absent from the beautiful game and given talent, perseverance and enterprise they could become candidates somewhere down the line for the world cup.

that would be a good thing as most americans are missing out on the world's greatest team sport and a global tradition. makes american football players look like girls in their poncy padding and helmets. football can be played anywhere as all you need is at least 2 players, a round ball, a close to level surface and passion.

simple, true and good.

an elegant game.. once you learn to "treat" the ball. nmcolker

its long been a missing aspect of brasilian football.

the swords were out for the brasilian team before the cup began as not many journalists or fans from brasil had expressed much hope or faith. thats why they are true champions - they played like winners all the way thru. im happy too - whenever a team that scores the most goals in the tournament wins then its a good worldcup. germany had only scored 6 goals since thrashing the saudi team 8-0. thats the story of todays game - great defense is not good on its own as if that fails then its runners up instead of champions. Gol, Gol, Gol, Gol, Gol, Gol , GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL :-)

im just so happy that ronaldo played so well and is back where he belongs. to watch him fall was unbearable as he had set the world alight with excitement. now he looks close to his best and his timing was godlike in that he came to on the world's biggest stage. he really is remarkable.

pierluigi is the coolest referee ever. what a set of eyes :-)

that newcastle united looks like signing rivaldo for $15 mill is amasing as well - he is still deadly and is a gmae winner too.

but you are right about roberto carlos - i think he is still the most talented player in all areas although we didn't see much of him attacking. perhaps with the 3 R's i guess he was instructed to take care of business elsewhere.

Rio Ferdinand (england) was always a standout in my mind and that he stepped up as the classiest and no fuss defender in the world cup has been very cool. he has a big future and never since Rumeniger have i ever enjoyed watching a defender so much. hes very talented.

does anyone know if the game will be replayed on TV or cable ..... wouldnt mind watching it again.
replay at 12:30pm today...Rio Ferdinand...Djudd

was excellent. He could be the player they need to push from the back, this is England's problem in international futbol.
The Belgians are, of course, at each others' throats about the play of the team. Internecine warfare is part of Belgian culture. When Merckx was on top there was grumbling about his name being Flemish but he was French-speaking, as a result, many backed de Vlaeminck when they went at it.
i watched the replay on GalavisionSpirito

Germany played well but lightening struck twice. Surprised that Kahn muffed Rivaldo's ball but there was no doubting the beauty of Ronaldo's second. He's back after the debacle in '98. Roberto Carlos was a force and Marcos in the net played well throughout the tournament. I've already watched some of the game again which was being rebroadcast in the UK. Well played by both sides with Collina showing again that he's the best referee in the World.

As for Rio Ferdinand, a great tourney which may translate into major dosh from Man U but England needs a bit more firepower and can't expect Owen to do all the scoring.

For all the supporters whose country didn't make it, we collectively say four more years.
savvy....he knows everyhting about football.colker

it's a rare kind of player. a "lateral" as we call here or "ponta". guys who run to the sides, "center" the ball to attackers to complete but also come back to "disarm" counter attacks.
