I think that's the remake of the remake. I've wanted a Molteni orange Merckx frame since I was 17. In the mid 80s it had a flat fork crown and didn't have the internal brake cable. This one looks like the early 90s version with 130 spacing. One day I'll get one (that one isn't my size so I'm safe). For now I'm happy with my blue one.
got mine!merckx56

rumour has it an original paint "molteni" from the factory has Mr. Merckx throwing a log over the frame and resting his jewels on the top tube. that is said to give axtraordinary powers to the frame an materials;

- dance up mountains
- outsprint anyone
- 400km 24 hour brevets
- they actually weigh less than 3 pounds

OK OK im just bullshitting.....yours is very cool...especially the chrome rear end. just a question: are decals for molteni paintjobs available ....or who did you get to do it and provide the decals?

interested as maybe one day i will get bored of the "faema" white with red bands and may resurrect it as a molteni.

thanks

i got the decals from gita in charlotte, nc, as they are the importer. they aren't cheap though! about $50 for the entire set. they still have them in stock. i bought an extra set just in case. mark schroeder at frame finish in tampa, florida did the paint work. he's really meticulous about what he does. he told me he didn't like the paint the first time he shot it, so he re-stripped it and did it again! i did the whole resto thing with 2 coats of marine primer, 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. the paint is tough as nails. it runs about $400 for the job i got. the chrome rear was part of the frame before and i know that eddy will probably slap me in mouth if he ever sees it w/o the chrome fork, but the carbon rides better!

what were you talking about when you said they weighed less than three pounds? the frames or merckx's jewels? have you seen eddy lately? i'm pretty sure his jewels weigh considerably more than 3 pounds!
nice one....:-) NmSpirito

There's one of these for sale at my lbs. Same size, I think, but with SL tubing and for less $$. Just repainted, new decals, but no chrome stays (again, I think).
