those 2 will set you back just over $600 shipped.

that leaves around $400 for some hoops, saddle, tires, bar/stem, build cost and some of the worlds finest bartape. sure its not campy but ofmega would last a long while nonetheless and anyone here would be happy to ride that tommasini fully built.(its a 57cm)

they are getting some nice stuff recently and the guy (baron von corpuz) is always thorough on the shipping details. yes they are in eindhoven (holland) but stuff i have ordered took less than a week.

just trying to put greeedbay into perspective. there is a lot of New old stuff still out there....ill have a source for NOS white hoods for c-record levers soon too (of course ill share it).

ciao
and ...colks - for you...Spirito

did you notice the brake bridge? red, amidst the chrome seat stays, pinarello pressed on the metal and painted in white gleaming letters. the rich and sober burgundy color of thee main frame.
i've just started one of those "no spending on bikes" diets. i woke up feeling well and determined and there comes you, one of those friends mamma always told me to stay away from cause they would bring me trouble... i'm a bike junkie!!!
france is danger but the brazilian shirt has "the force". the shirt plays part of the football when the cup gets to semifinals. that's when italy, germany, brazil and argentina wake up. france woudn't be taken seriously a decade a go but zidane plays a masterpiece of football.

That Tommasini is incredible. Do you think those dimensions are correct, though -- 57 c-c seat tube and 56 c-c top tube? Most Tommasinis I've seen have a slightly longer top tube than seat tube. What would you think the seat tube angle is -- around 73? I'm still trying to decide what to do about the Merckx frame I got on eBay -- whether it's worth repairing and repainting. This Tommasini is about my size, looks to be in perfect condition and costs about the same or less than it would to fix and repaint the Merckx. Do you know any good sources for NOS or good used Merckx steel frames?
i think its 57 c-t actually...Spirito

it is a beauty....and for $325 + shipping is the best thing ive seen all year. well....except for that.....
haven't seen any merckxiiSpirito

im pretty sure the tommasini is new...most of his bikes were at one time or another in bike stores for display. and sometimes he just happens along some old stock.

i wish i was him....scouring accross europe looking in old bike shops in out of the way places.

he has a casati as well...its a bit more pricey but wow...
http://www.renaissance-cycles.com/image.asp?Id=2659

what size is the merckx by the way?

ciao

May 17, 2002 10:56 AM
the merckx is 56 c-c for the both the seat and top tubes, with a 72.5 seat tube angle.
hmmmmSpirito
May 17, 2002 12:18 PM
the reason i asked as i was thinking of passing the merckx that i have a deposit on with gary at gvh. but it would be too small for you as its a 53 x 54.5 and the seat tube is 73.33 degrees.

i do look forward to building the merckx but the casati above is making me think about it. i suppose its best if i stop looking at other frames and stick to my plans.....

how fickle am i ...especially for italian names...
couldn't find the tommasini at rennaissance..colker

... holding out for a chrome-lugged Paramount. Sweet, and I think it would probably fit me, too. I've just been outbid on my second crack at a Paramount frame on e-bay.

I bought a Chesini frame from them...Djudd
May 17, 2002 1:55 PM
that is well on its' way to being a sweeeeeet road to fixie conversion (with Delta brakes no less). I have to say I have been looking at a Concorde or that very Tommasini for a month or two, as a C-Record build. If one of you guys gets it I won't feel bad. Service is great even though they are overseas. Humma, I have have never been successful bidding on e-bay.
thats cool to hearSpirito

any idea for shipping cost? and did you buy other stuff at the same time? get tagged by customs?

they are pretty cool guys and although i have only bought smaller things they were great on letting me know what else they had that wasn't listed and any specials they had as well. they do have some really cool things even if some of the high profile stuff sells very quick.

a friend has a concorde with super rcord that he ahs had since new and wont even ride another bike if offered ...he has found his life bike.

ciao
As I recall shipping was about thirty bucks...Djudd

with the $175 cost of the frame(!!!) the total was around $200. The Concorde is really calling my name but I am in the middle of two bike projects, including the Chesini - I could easily make it three but I don't want to get in too deep- cuts down on ride time you know.
The really cool thing about dealling with them was the immediate timely e-mail answers. I am a nervous guy and I don't make any purchase easily. I asked a thousand questions and got timely answers- made the purchase a lot easier.
BTW never go against Zidane...Djudd

he is the most creative Euro player since Cruyff. My mother is Belgian, my father Jamaican so I grew up on a steady diet of soccer and cycling
i wonder why his hairstyle never caught on.....Spirito

the team i most like watching isn't in it (holland).

as much as a fan of the english team as i am now that young gerard is out i dont think they have a chance of the next round as the group they are in is pretty tough.

i hope at least one of the african teams knocks out a big team ....or a big upset ........ my choice is senegal. i hope cameroon wear their sleeveless jersey's ...very cool.

brasil will come to form for sure as they are the best.
argentina and france will be there at the end. hopefully germany and italy wont. im looking for a good show by the swedish team as well.

i hope for a rematch of the last world cup with brasil to win 3 -1.

i will be surpised if the U.S. team score more than 1 goal. the game i think will have most send-offs and passion mexico - equador....old rivalry with the whole world watching is sure to be an intense match.

i just hope there isn't any incidents and politcal demonstrations. that is always sad especially when the world comes together to play the beautiful game.
I agree about Holland, Edgar Davids is my favorite player...Djudd
May 17, 2002 3:25 PM
I'd love to see him come to the MLS sometime. An African team will definitely pull an upset. I have doubts about Brasil. No pure goal scorer w/o Ronaldo or even Romario and huge defensive lapses.
ronaldo is in the squad... rivaldo still has a lot of fireSpirito
May 17, 2002 3:39 PM
and ronaldo is for sale by his club following the world cup i believe.

davids is cool! van nistelrooy is amazing. shame neither will have any showing.....i think the whole of holland is in mourning right now.....
Thanks for the '49 Giro posts...Djudd

I deleted the Aldo Ross message on the CR forum before I could get on the e-mail list. Thanks for the consideration

ronaldo is playing. ronaldinho gaucho will pair with him on the attack. he was playing in europe. i believe spain. very young and very offensive. my greatest hope with brasil is that the team was so terrible until now that it may ressurrect and surrender themselves in the cup. suppose ronaldo gets in form. the defenses will mark ronaldo badly, not leting him play... the other ronaldo and rivaldo are free to make dangerous moves. there's roberto carlos...it's the world cup. very hard to predict anything. teams play beyond thair technique and talent.. a lot of passion will go on.
I would love to see Ronaldo come to form but...Djudd
May 17, 2002 4:14 PM
I fear he will not. It's been two or three years since Ronaldo has been in form. But you are right about the emotion of the World Cup, perhaps he can find inspiration and condition.

Those Concorde frames look really nice. I have an old Benotto that I was going to have painted and rebuild. It has Nuevo Record parts and I was planning to update it to 1995 Chorus parts with Ergo shifting.

Seeing these frames, I think I will keep the Benotto original (it does need paint) and buy a Concorde and throw the 1995 Chorus parts on it!

Thanks for the source Spirito and the comments from everyone else.
let us know how it goes...they look nice!!! NmSpirito
