Recently saw beautiful Pinarello Montello frame in LBS. It beckons me. Colombus slx frame, never built-up, unknown age. Horizontal rear dropouts.Includes headset/steel fork. Anyone know of this frame/quality/age?
What would/should a frame like this sell for?

Just a WAG (wild ass guess) but I would say mid/late 90's frame worth maybe...$500 - $650? Not sure. Does it have any chrome? What does the paint look like?

I don't remember/didn't notice the presence of chrome. Paint is perfect, as is paint detailing ("pinarello" pantographs under BB, top of seat stays, etc.) The bootom bracket had not a speck of grease, so I'm pretty sure it's never been ridden. Thanks.

hmmm... horizontal drop outs. the vuelta has "semi" horizontal drop outs. they are smaller. had the cadore before the vuelta. the cadore had 41cm cs and horizontal drop outs. the vuelta has 40.5 cs. it makes a big diference in ride feel.

FWIW I picked up a NOS Colnago Master of mid-90s vintage (not the XL but prev. model with horizontal DOs) for $455 on eBay about a year ago. Shop price will probably be higher but the frame has probably been there for a number of years now too. Always start low.
