I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my 1976 Gintane Tour De France. Did you use the standard Stronglight double crank and just put a 45t ring on?

The Stronglights on the Peugeot PX-10E's came with a 45/52 chainring standard. The freewheel was a 5 speed 14/23. I never converted the bike to "modern" because of the high gearing. Even changing to a high tooth freewheel, the 45t chainring was just too much gearing for the mountains of Colorado.

do those hubs have gold or red labels on the centre's between the flanges? if so when do they date from?
