I'm thinking about doing the carmichael online coaching, at the $49 level. Anyone here doing this and how do you like it? is it worth it? Any info/experience would be appreciated.

I don't understand why anyone does online coaching. You just get advice that you could get for free from people at a club, or here, or at least cheaper by buying a book like "The Training Bible". I personally think coaches are only worth the money if they actually ride with you at least once a week and/or come to your races.
Are you currently reading/using his books?treebound

I stopped at a Border's Books last night on the way home from a class I'm taking and was checking out what they have for training and cycling. Saw what looked like a newer one with Carmichael a co-author of (might have been Anderson instead of Carmichael, I was distracted a few times). Aaaaaanyway, if you are not currently using or following one of his training books then I'd suggest starting there and see if you like how it works for you. If you don't understand or don't know the concepts or philosophy behind his methods you may not get a full benefit from an on-line coaching interraction. Also, is it Carmichael himself who will be doing the coaching, or some on-line staff, and if it's an on-line staff member will it always be the same staff member for you or will it vary, and if it's the same staff member then how many other students/subjects will that staff member also be responsible for? See where I'm going with this? The better the focus the better the chance at successful results, this goes both ways both for the trainee and the trainer.

Oh, and is the $49 an annual subscription or a monthly fee? And if you sign up for it are you then obligated for a set minimum time period or can you cancel at any time without cause nor reason?

Food for thought, pedal on.

I've been signed up for the Carmichael coaching for a couple of months. How it works is you are assigned a coach, but not Carmichael himself, he is reserved for the big guns like Lance :). All the coaches are trained in the Carmichael training system though. I just started racing last August with no team and no coach yet, and desperately needed some guidance. My CTS coach was full of information and able to answer my endless questions. The coach posts your workouts on the internet each month based on your goals and the time you have available to ride, and you can enter whether you completed each workout, also can make comments. My coach looks at what I enter and sometimes makes changes to future workouts or sends me e-mail about it. I can call my coach anytime with questions. I would call myself a satisfied customer, but if you already have a "live" coach who you are satisfied with, then I don't know why they would sign up.

I've been with CTS for 3 years now and i have nothing but good things to say about it. If money is an issue than buying a book like Friel and setting up your workouts would probably just as effective, but for me CTS works great and the results are amazing. what I like about doing CTS is I dont have to think about my training i just look at my program and I know I can trust and do what they are telling me. It's hard to go out and ride easy and do the proper intervals, but when you have someone that knows what they are doing you just trust it. When I started with CTS 3 years ago I just got into racing and I could not hang in a cat 5 race. I'm currently a 4 and planning on moving up to 3's by march or april with no problem. when the others around me start suffering, I just have a smile on my face and gas in the tank. For me the money is not an issue when I look at how much I spend on races and traveling to those races and equipment etc... 50 bucks just makes all that more fun. good luck. and one more thing, since seeing how well I did after using CTS, 2 of my teammates had to sign up and are also very happy.
