Aero Bars are very Cool!lexington476

I finally got to use my aero bars on the road bike in a 40k TT. After getting the bars, then losing the shims in moving, then finding the shims again. I cut ten (10) minutes off my time last night! My pervious best time (I have done this course twice before) was 1:26, now my new time is 1:16. Yes, I am that slow; so do not laugh too much (this is my first year [I am sure even all the immortal cat 1/2s started somewhere]).
I wish I could find an 8 minute Magic bullet.nmbimini

At MOST, you might shave 2 minutes off a 40K time just from aero bars. A full TT bike might give you 5 minutes. No way did you get 10 minutes just from the bars. Conditioning, placebo effect, good weather, a fast night, etc. but not just from the bars.
A full TT bike might be good for 5 minutes? Hmmm.....(nm)hrv

That's going to be the hard one. But I'm starting to believe that anyone, short of major medical shortcomings, and under, say, 55, can break the hour, with the proper training. I'm still trying to figure out what that is!

Keep it up.

There are fast courses and there are slow courses. Go looking for a fast course. They can be worth minutes.
Oh no! I only have 2 years to get in shape. (nm)TFerguson

Thanks, will maybe it was not the aero bars... But cutting 10 mins off my last best time sure as h--l surprised me! The bars sure helped, I just had it that night!
