|530am rides and MHR has a governor??||titansprodigal|

|Most of my 530am rides are low intensity and yesterday i decided to incorporate a race pace ride after warming up for 30. My HR wouldnt budge over 172. Maybe it was a fluke, i hav'nt set a pattern to it yet, some of my hard rides, high cadence early a.m interval sessions on a spinner (Polar wont wk w/ all the gym inteference). I'm comfortable racing at 179-180, MHR 189. I know for a fact that im not overtrained. My weekend late rides 10am-1pm HR acts great.|

|but I sure as hell can't do anything other than low intensity in the a.m. One of the reasons I try to stay clear of races that start before 10am is I simply can't get my body to perform the way I want. I'm 38, but this was true for me 20 years ago. When I was a kid running track, I set my PRs in the 5k and 800m when it was after 10pm.
Getting used to an early morning routine makes it easier and I feel better, but the lack of high end remains.

|Can't explain it. Matter of fact, was ok with a.m. intensity last year. Just one year older did it? Whatever, the 8:00 group deal is less than fun except near the 3/4 mark, when I can kick it into gear, and the rest have been hammering the whole time and if they were kind enough to have waited for me, I kill 'em for that final 1/2 hour!

|my best efforts are invariably in the early a.m. if i start a ride in the evening, i'm usually not going to be near as strong. i think this is mostly just the residual effect of having most of my hardest rides happening early and most of my recovery rides (and easier rides) happening in the evening. my body just learns what to expect.|
