Just wondering what your thoughts are.I read the pro wrap up and it sounded like fun.I guess Vaughters is still training :-) but the switchbacks sounded interesting .....

evs(no big hills here :-(

I saw Vaughters' time, but the Women's field starts so late they were practically done by the time we were sent off.

I got hailed on and finished DFL. I got all intimidated by the climb and wound up just riding instead of racing, so I pretty much wasted my entry fee. One of my teammates put in a respectable showing, and in hindsight I should have just pasted myself onto her wheel and suffered a bit. If I ever do this event again, I'll know better.

I think Evans rates up there with cyclocross. It comes around once a year, the weather's always crappy and in between tries you tend to forget how much it sucks so that you get talked into doing it again.

a riding buddy taught me that it has to be a mind set in that you actually seek out the big hills and look forward to the FUN and Challenge. It's like the nike ad "just do it" but instead for us it's "LUV THEM HILLS". Things like that are always a good learning experience.Next time you know what your time was and to see if you can beat it next time.Or to put a better twist on it, the mt climb, effort and experience will pay dividends on your next hard race or long ride.I felt that way on a crappy long ride and didn't do as good as I'd thought but my next race that was in 2 weeks, I blew doors off and I think it was because of that hard race with the long hard climbs and long miles that got in my legs that I did. Good luck and may your legs be stronger and faster than before. :-)

I hope it wasn't in that hail storm where the new record was set with a 7+" sized piece of hail. What was that like? Was it a long storm with stinging hail and the MT was saying HA, you can't climb me, I'll beat you down if you try. :-) and I suppose that means slick roads,Bummer but I bet the scenary was nice if you got enough oxygen to your brain to assimilate was was going on. :-)

evs(luv siittng back after a nice hard ride and absorbing all the sensations a race/ride can give. It's hard to explain to others who've never been there.)

in live in SF which is great because if i have very limited time to train, i can just go and spend 2 hours seeking out all the steepest hardest climbs and go to it. there's always some new, ridiculously steep climb you never knew even existed that you can hammer your way up and feel good about it. usually, my back starts to give out well before my legs.
that's only because your old ;) (nm)Fender
