|Murphy's law strikes. I was supposed to be in Athens Ga. this weekend racing but I have a Sinus infection with fever etc... My question is how to prepare for next weeks race. I will be taking antibiotics for the next 5 days. How should I train. Should I blow this race off as well. This really sucks I have trained hard and am ready to go but I don't want to overdo it and be out the whole month.
All of you seasoned cyclist's at some point have to deal with this I'm sure

|I have zero medical training and listen poorly to others.
That said, when I've been in exactly your condition, I've found that 45-60 minutes of low HR spinning a day (indoors, bundled up) is better than nothing and better than anything more. If you were fit before you got hit with the virus, you should be fine. If you're really feeling poorly, you may lose a couple pounds which will feel great after you recover. And watch what you eat for the week...
If you've completed your course of antibiotics AND you feel tip top, I'd race. That's probably against what every doctor will tell you, though.

|I've been battling sinus infection since February. I have been on 5 different antibiotics and it keeps coming back. It has been hard to do any racing or training because it seems to come back as my training increases. Its very frustrating have invested so much, only to be limited by illness.|| |
