Henk Vogels, one of the top U.S. based racers the past few years, took second at Ghent on Wednesday. Chris Horner was the top guy in the U.S. in the spring last year and may be well on his way again this year. How do you think he would fare in the spring classics?

Wasn't he on the Francais de Juex several years back racing the classics? Didn't quite figure then. Some riders are just not cut out for the Euro scene.

... it's that whole pissing order thing. If you're an American on a French team, chances are you're mandate is to slug water bottles and Extran to guys with 1/2 your ability. Horner knows where he's appreciated, and has a whole team built behind him in that apprecation.

in Europe for a year or two a couple years back and was pretty much a flop. On the other hand I remember Henk Vogels being somewhat of a player in the classics prior to going to Mercury and ending up stateside.
