|Check out the maximum grade on the main hill for this week-end's race. 25%! Arghh! Tonight I will be feverishly cobbling together a hill-master cassette.... do I sacrifice the 12, the 16... or my quads? So many questions, so much hate for the course designers....
I'll report back next week - if I make it

|As a confirmed 'critter' (read: I climb like a brick), I have ridden sadistical hill courses before, tho nothing as bad as that - that is I think a new milestone in maniacal and you have my respect for even considering it (or are you just crazier than I thought?).
I usually discover my most colorful and inventive language about midway up the steepest bits - my favorite visualisation is that of covering the promoter in honey and staking him out naked in the desert for the ants to eat. Rage is your friend. A 27 or even 29 helps, too. On courses like that, I let the 16 go, cos it seems I spend my entire time in the 24, 27 or 11!

|hmm.. race promoter tied down, ants, honey, vultures above, and I'll add convulsing lactic hamstring cramps for good measure. That vision should get me through the hill -- the first time...sigh.
Out with the 16 is where I am heading, I'm going to try this hill on a frankenstein 12-26, we'll see if I was right, or just delusional.

by the looks of it, you'll have to sacrifice the 12, the 16, and your quads. good luck!
