|My 1st race is May 4th. I have been riding mindless trainer miles for a month.
My question is, do I want to ride right at (or slightly below) my LT for a long period of time? Any advice would help.

|Nope. Too early for that stuff. Sasve that for late march early April and start off with short 2x15 minute efforts. Then work way up to 25 mitues. Work on leg strength by big gears low cadence and practice high cadence always. keep your Hr under 155 for most people. Of course you can do what ever the hell you like as well..... knock yourself out :P|

|Chris Carmichael covers this in some detail. Base period is now (aerobic excercise plus increasing amounts of aerobic endurance intervals) with preparation phase 6-8 weeks before the event (LT workouts 2-3 X per week).|| |
