My coach has me doing some "jams" as part of my new workout schedule. I didn't want to sound ignorant (even though I am) so I just assumed "jamming" is going really hard... as though you were trying to hang on to the back of a breakaway. Is this a fair assumption?

As a coach myself, I would be dissapointed if any one of my athletes failed to contact me with ANY questions he or she has. Simply ask for clarification; it's your coaches job!

This is a Coach Carl term I believe. In the words of the coach himself:

"A jam is a sustained effort. A 1-5 mile jam means that you hammer as hard as possible for 1-5 miles."
