Best way to train for crits is by doing " cruise intervals "This will help more then anything. Find a flat low traffic place you can ride straight for 15-20 miles. Start them in March and start them short say 15 minutes. Do 2 of them after the first 2 weeks, aero position on your road bike at your LT or a hair below. Increase them by 5 minutes until you reach 30 minutes every week. Only do them once a week. But every week. After getting used to them, month or more, try 2, 30 minute LT cruise intervals with a 10 minute break between. Keep cadence VERY high and stay in drops. You can do sprints anytime and shouldnt do them with this workout. You will benefit more in crits by this then any oher workout. Group pacelines will become easy after this.

I actually like doing that sort of workout, too. Seems like something I can do on the CT; I'll probably start sooner, though, as race season has already begun here.

Thanks.

Are fast group rides (race-like) similar training as long as you are around AT?

Thanks
