If I get a license to run Cat 5 track bikes at the velodrome, can I still race citizen at the crits?

In most cases, 5s and citizen are run together anyway nmgreg n

Even though the two groups are usually run together, in the Seattle area, often the 4s and 5s run together. A USCF license starts you out as a Cat 5, both road (which includes crits) and track. You can selectively upgrade (I was cat 3 road, cat 4 track), but you can't drop back to citizen. You could possibly do a one-day license to check out the track, but I recommend taking whatever classes your local velodrome association offers (Marymoor Velodrome Association does several classes in the spring). It doesn't obligate youto anything, but it will go a long way toward making you more comfortable (and safer) on the track.
Thanks. (nm)TFerguson
