I have the pts to move up but am a little worried. How much of a difference should I expect? I don't want to get hung out on every race! This is my first season so I was just looking for some advice. Thx.

Do it, you wont regret it. The races are much more safe and that is reason enough. They are faster and longer sometimes, but you should not have a problem if this is your first season
absolutely no differencestr8dum1

In general, Cat 3's still cant race as a team, have no understanding of tactics, and races almost always end in field sprints b/c they dont know how to counter attack.

The only difference is that you can win more money and the races may be a lil longer. Maybe safer. Should take you the same amount of time to move from 3-2 as it did 4-3.
so there is a difference thenclimbo

they are longer and harder races than any cat 4 race. If you have the points go for it. The team tactics issue is always around, everyone thinks differently on it but I sort of agree. Some teams don't race well but some do, it really depends on who. You'll get to know who can do what when you race against them. Anyway, it's still fun in Cat 3.
Where do you race?JS

Have a go in So. Cal. and you'll change your tune. At any given 3's race here you have Helen's, Schroeder, Viejas, and a few more teams with 6 or more riders that play the team game very well.....well enough in fact that I'm moving teams next year to give me a better chance at winning. As far as moving up, I started racing last year, moved to 4's in the middle of the season and moved up to 3's at the start of this season and let me tell you pointing in 3's races here is really tough.
