heavy leg sendrom.. help!!bisiklet

When I pull the group I sometimes get heavy leg sendrom and I am off back. And sometimes even get dropped. If I dont pull, I am with the group all the time but after the ride even we average 23-26mph for 2,5 hours, I dont feel like I worked enough. Do you guys have any idea why it happens when I pull??
take shorter pulls. nmJohnG

It is more a mental thing. When you get up to front you feel excited and work harder than you think you normally can do. Only problem is that your legs don't think the same way (really they don't think at all), and soon get tired and heavy. Pushing that wind up front is harder work than you think and remember there is a delayed reaction to hard work that will sneak up and get you about a minute later. Always quit pulling before your exhausted and leave something left to get back into the pack.
