warming up before a race(3 posts)

warming up before a raceishmael

Im going to do a tinny one kilometer uphill timetrial today and I'm not sure how to warm-up. Do I want to take it somewhat easy and save my strength or should I fully exert myself as practice with enough time to fully recover? My plan untill I hear better is to ride for about an hour at a moderately fast pace to get my juices flowing and everything warm.

You'll want to do a few jumps and accelerations up to speed, get the heart rate up to new VO2max for a few seconds, then recover. Do a couple short uphills to get the calves REALLY warm, then give yourself about 5 minutes before the start to calm down.
that's what i'd do...merckx56

but i'd ad a couple of good, hard efforts to really open things up! don't go out and just ride hard. ride at about a 70% of max effort pace and throw in the efforts. you'll be ready for the start!
