|How should I start off. I made it to the race site on time. Got registered and got my racing number. Did one or 2 warm-ups. And then got ready for the start of the race. The Cat V races started ,and I got clipped in and almostran over another guy clipping in. So during the 1st lap, I got irritated because we kept stopping and slowing up. But the pelton was relatively together for the 1st 5 miles of the 28.5 miles. And then all of a sudden some yell that there are 5 guy in a breakaway, and the peleton begins to chase the breakaway. By this time I try to stay with them for a while before I got spit out the back of the peleton. After that I decided to try not to finish the race in dead last ,which I acomplished. The rest of my race report goes like this I attacked and chase the rest of the way. I think I may have finished in 46th place. But overall I finished My 1st road race. And I am proud of it. (And most of all I got some respect from my teammates, and encouragement from them and from the Crowd.) LFR and BLOG, I need some advice now.|

|That sounds about right for my first race. Oh wait, that sounds about right for the next three! :) Finishing is good, after I got shelled, that's all I wanted to do. Then, it got to after I got shelled, I didn't want to finish last. Now, though, I've gotten better. When riders get off the front, I usually let the chase group go by, and then catch the back end of them, careful not to let too many riders go by. All that does is create an accordian in the pack. Seems they charge for about 5 mins or so and then recoup. Plus, any breaks over 10 miles usually don't last. Once I'm in with them, I try to launch my own attack. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm finishing in the pack now, and you will too with time. Heck, given more time, you'll be contending. Good luck with the rest of the season.|

|Your correct on the race...I've done 2 so far (1 road race and 1 crit) and I've been shelled off the back on both of them.
This is going to sound bad I know but the weather has been crap in the midwest (iowa) and I haven't been able to train like I wanted to and then I had my wisdom teeth removed last weekend and it put me out of commision most of this week. At least I've got a couple of weeks to get in a bunch of good miles in between now and the next road race, which is the state championships! That should be fun...NOT!!! I can say however that I have not finished last in any of these races...yet. Before the year is over I want to finish with the group however!
