|Okay, so let me get this straight. They took endurance runners (who arguably have hydration difficulties to start with) and put them on a high protein diet. Then they found they were MORE dehydrated? Wow! That's some high-tech science there. Look, even the bodybuilding community is pretty cold to the Atkins type diet. Yes, a HIGHER protein diet may be in order (higher than the 25% commonly touted as ideal, and it WILL increase water requirements), and going toward lower GI carbs will help, but to go to high-fat protein sources and virtually excluding carbs is no way to live. And no, there are no quick-fix weight loss diets that work. They ALL have their down sides. Mainstream media is no place to get reliable information on exercise and diet.|| |
