Just kidding. Raced as a Cat 4 for many years, until my district rep announced me as "the professional Cat 4" at the district TT. Upgraded to cat 3 (both road and track), and did well on the road, but got soundly spanked on the track. That was about 7 years ago. I haven't raced in a couple years -- been putting time into a business venture. As for racing strategies -- look around some more on this discussion board.

I was going to be a smart-ass, too, but you sort of stole my thunder there.

4. No plans to upgrade.

Strategy: don't get dropped, don't wreck, use minimal energy, sprint like hell at the end.

Class - Expert mountain bike.

Experience - Began in the Sport Class and got whooped. That pissed me off and made me train hard. Expert class was an easier transition, but we race with the pros a lot and I have had the pleasure of being soundly thrashed by some big name pros. Once held Bart Brentjens wheel till the last climb on the last lap though (rope broke).

Why I am here. Do most of my training with the local road club, and am actively involved in club business (We hosted nationals last year).

Best Strategy - Go really fast.

Working hard to downgrade to increase the gap between me and everybody else at the finish. Outside of the cycling world nobody knows what 'cats' are, all they care about is if you win. Glory is in the eyes of the beholder.

I should be a 3 or 2 but I'm not. :-)

Hate me yet?

i'd be interested to hear strategies myself. the only tactics involved in cat C are: don't pull and don't crash, with the latter being the most important by far. nobody really attacks - the pack may get fragmented, but no one attacks.
i'm likely moving up to the Bs by the end of next season, and i'm wondering about tactics...
