|I've been lurking here for awhile and the discussion is just way to good to continue lurking. Enjoy all the posts about the races everyone does and has inspired me.
I'll be doing my first race, a road race, in Iowa City, IA, this April 27th. Due to the horrible weather I haven't been able to put in a lot of miles but have been riding the trainer (for what good it is) and putting in miles here and there when the weather is good.
As much as I'd like to think I'll be powering off the front of the citizen/cat 5 race, I keep telling myself to just finish the race, which has been the advice of so many riders here. So here's to just finishing the race!
Look forward to posting my racing stories (I've got 3 races planned so far) and hearing from other Cat5 racers.

|You trying to keep me racing or eliminate some competition? LOL!!
Actually my muscles may get the better of me (rather than my brain) and I may take of like you say. They'll probably bring me in, but who knows. Maybe I'll be stronger than them in the long run.
got to quit analyzing it and just do it!!

|take off the front and see if anyone comes along, if they do youve got a chance in hell, if no one helps you dont have a chance in hell...then again you could be alot better than most..the disorganization of the 5's can be to your advantage, no on wants to do the work...tell us how it goes|

|First race was fairly flat, I powered off the front...for a while anyway. 2nd race was very hilly, got dropped on the first lap. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. Just take each race as a learning experience.|

|Well I just found out that the race has been moved out a week, to the first weekend in May, not a bad thing and it's been shortened by a bit, so I'm thinking more and more about powering off the front. I guess it will depend on how much miles I can get in between now and then.
We'll see how it goes and I'll be sure to post the story so all the other's can read how it went.
