Cross training- Ice skating?ddb
Feb 15, 2002 7:34 AM
Besides riding the trainer 2-4 time a week i am also on the ice 2-4 times a week coaching a team. I skate hard during the practices, depending on how i am feeling. Will this benifit my riding? i am just finishing my base and going into my build period.

Thanks,
ddb

Any aerobic or strenght work you is better than nothing. Skating is very good cross training. You still need to do endurance work though and get on that bike asap.

Yup it will. The skating motion is very similar to pushing down in cycling. I cross train on the ice as well and find the 2 motions complement each other and take some of the monotony out of my training program.
