What zone should your hr be in for LSD to get maximum benefit? I know a lot of you believe in Joe Friel here so I'd like to hear his take on it as well.

and this late in the winter, you should already have a big base (>2500 miles) since october. i would start focusing on specific workouts.

At what point you are in your training currently completely depends on when you want to peak. My 1st peak isn't until June 15th through July, so I'm just starting my base phase. Friel suggests 12 weeks for base, 8 weeks for build, 2 weeks pre-race, and 6 weeks for your peak.
