is there anything like REALLY distracting that I could say to people before making an attack or on a climb, something that will make them lose their rythm, really startle them?

Com'on, there's gotta be some good shit out there!!!

...the art of making sound effects with your mouth. The one that always used to work for me was the sound of a blow-out. Loosely transcribed, you say something like,

"PPFFF PFF pff pf pf..." Make sure you doppler-ize each successive 'pf' to account for the rapid air loss from your 'blown' tire.

If that doesn't unsettle those just behind or next to you, you're not doing it loud enough.

I usually just start out braething really hard and develop that into a tortured sounding wheeze, but then again I can't help that.

Seriously though, a guy I know that used to race in euro said that he liked to ride up beside a likely antagonist while smiling and commenting about how fun the climb was then he would attack.

when I was running competitivly, who would murder us if he ever saw us pass a guy on a hill without smiling and acting like it was easy. It is amazing how demoralizing it is to someone who is working hard, giving it everything they have & someone passes them with the attitude that this is easy. It worked every time I did it.

Ask him why he's not running narrower tires.

Any type of distraction strategy works best when a team mate does it, especially if they're on the other side of the person you're trying to distract. Spraying some one with water always works, especially in these early season races. But then again, stealth will be your best weapon, and anything that YOU do to try to distract some one will only bring attention to you.
