To any of you in the Boulder / Denver area, I noticed on the local calendar that weekends in September are pretty devoid of cyclocross stuff until late in the month.

Cyclocross is a fun, relatively easy way to get started in racing. The fields aren't as big as in road racing, and it's more like mountain bike racing in that you ride for yourself and by yourself a lot. Plus if you mess up, you typically fall on soft dirt or grass, not asphalt.

With that in mind, I am interested in getting groups together to do some cross workshop kind of things on Saturdays and/or Sundays, whichever works. I'm sending this msg. out to all my Louisville Velo teammates as well.

I don't know about anyone else, but I learn more and am more motivated in a group setting. When I lived in the Midwest, I gave cyclocross beginner's clinics through September, but out here I'd be the one getting schooled, and I'm not interested in doing anything that formal.

I live in Lafayette, just off U.S. 287. There is a park here behind the Lafayette Rec Center with a bike path I've never seen anyone use. I've been eyeing it as a good cyclocross venue. I will build a few barriers of my own. The goal is to do a 90 minute to 2 hour session, then go out for beer & munchies afterwards.

All interested, e-mail me at chinkes@qwest.net for further details.
