TT Wheel choice...(6 posts)

TT Wheel choice...fudashq
Aug 22, 2001 2:02 PM
I'm doing a 20k out and back TT that's totally flat and might be windy, might not be. I have a pair of Velomax Circuit Comp wheels (really light, somewhat of an aero rim), and a pair of HED 3's that I'm borrowing. I obviously want to be as fast as possible, so I'm wondering what combination of wheels I should use given the wind conditions. Who can help?
Hed 3's for a flat TT for sure.J.S.

The only thing better would be a disk in back.
So the wind doesn't matter? (nm)fudashq

Disks wheels are always fastest, save for a stupid sidewind. Geta disk and a H3 front. Zipp 404 for heavy front for heavy sidewinds.
you get the entire roadstr8dum

unstability due to xwinds is really only a concern when you are in a pack and risk swerving into a rider next to you. worried about swerving off the road, get closer to the center line. I ride the 3 spoke (or Hed Deep) front and disc in any TT
Go with the HED'sLazy

Cross winds are not that big a deal with them. Sure, you'll feel it, but it's like one of the others said. You don't have to worry about hitting anyone else. Besides, it gives you something to concentrate on to keep your mind off your seering lungs and wooden legs during the last K or so. :-)
