|Training in windy PA...Question?||PSUbikerBen|

|I get blown around the farms of central alone on most of my training rides. When I start spinning at a high cadence at anything over 20mph, it really feels like the wind is wearing me out fairly fast. Is it worthwile to get aero bars so I can keep up a race pace for longer? Any roadracers out there use them or are they taboo?
Thanks for the help.

|Ben--I used to live in state college and know exactly what you mean--those winds howling through the valleys sometimes can be frustrating. I used aero bars and they help, but if you are going to race, you might get a bit too used to them. If you want to ride the bigger gears, try hooking up with a group ride and it will make all the difference. There have always been a lot of riders in the state college area, and the PSU club has all levels of riders. Or just realize that although you are going slower, you are still exerting energy like you would using bigger gears with less wind.|| |
