Over criterium distances, a Cat3 is 4% faster than a Cat4 who is 5.2% faster than a Cat5. On circuit courses, the ratio is 4.6% and 5.5%. Road courses: 5.1% and 6%. This is from the perspective of a Cat3. Looking up from the 5s, the ratios change slightly. One moves up Categories by mailing complete Record 10-speed groups to the District Director.
