Ouch! Ive had them off and on for five years but they've always cleared up w/ a little nusing. But this latest set has put me sitting on a stuffed pillow donut gulping antibiotics.
I have a hairy butt and sweat terribly so that probaly doesnt help matters. I never wear dirty shorts but do use bodyglide on longer rides. Now im handwashing my shorts in hibiclense and hang drying in the sun. I also broke out w/ a terrible case of jock itch about the same time in which i had to get a RX for that. I must have either rode some nasty shorts by accident or just got a case of fungus that went rampent. I thought about shaving my rear end and washing before each ride if that what it takes to prevent this in the future.
use noxema or shammy butterstr8dum

I had the same problem for about a year. My solution was to use powder in my boxers every morning to keep the sweating down, and also use powder in my shorts before every ride. I tried chamois butter and other stuff. Becides feeling disgusting, it didn't help. I dump powder down my short everyday and before every ride. I haven't had much of a problem since.

Are you telling me you ride "dry"? I get a little saddle sore on long rides so I use body glide but I can't imagine riding dry. Doesn't the power work it's way through the fabric and all over the seat and bike and make a mess?

yes I ride dry...I know your thinking that it would clump up or something; the powder doesn't make a mess...Gold bond or Shower to Shower work well for riding and daily use. It's a cheap easy solution. My chamois are in good shape too after about a year of using powder. Things like glide and chamois butter promote movement (small abrasions), where as a powder doesn't and keeps you dry preventing a habitat for bateria that cause us so much pain. It worked for me and I don't have much trouble with saddle sores anymore.

i shave "down there" and the perineum and ride dry with inexpensive shorts. after riding i use noxema to soothe any tenderness. never had a saddle sore. i think going hairless helps maintain cleanliness.
ingrown hairs???jayz
