|How light can my bike be?? And the bike is still perfectly safe and stiff and comfortable, so don't preach about ride over weight savings.|

|I remember the UCI minimum weight mentioned at last year's TDF. It is 7 Kg or 15.4 lbs.
Here's my observation and question: I built up a Cannondale which is exactly 15 lbs. It's got Full DA with some lightweight bars, stem, post, and saddle. Also, Zipp 303s wheels. Last year LA went to extremes to drop weight. Crazy light frame and downtube front shifter. I know the frame alone is a 1/2 pound lighter than mine. I suspect that bike should have been less than 15 pounds. Do these guys add ballast to pass the weight police then take it off for the race?
I would think that someone as small as Pantani would have no trouble getting his Bianchi well below 7 Kg.

|The minimum is 14.98lbs, and Tyler Hamilton had the lightest bike in the Tour last year at 14.99lbs. Armstrong uses pretty beefy pedals and saddles, keeping his bike well above 15lbs. And the 5900 OCLV isn't as light as Trek would like you to think it is.|
