1. Stiffer soled shoes
2. Orthotics
3. Move your cleats forward or back
4. Just need more miles/experience/years
5. Kind of unlikely, but it could be your socks

What does hot foot or numbness along the outside edge of your foot mean? I'm using Sidi Genius 3's with Superfeet insoles, Defeet socks, and Look pedals (red ARC cleats). The problem is most noticeable after hammering for a while or sprinting.

Sounds like a nerve is getting pinched or at least squeezed, such that you are cutting it off. Similar to numb hands on the bars. Possible solutions = orthotics and cleat placement changes. Also, it is worth asking if you are doing any unconscious "toe scrunches" as you pedal, making your foot work overtime.

Thanks Kerry - yeah, just noticed the foot scrunching thing going on. I'll fool around with cleat placements and see what goes on.
Thanks for the info!freddy

I will try to move the cleats around, i have dura ace pedals with shimano shoes. after five years of riding/racing i haven't had this problem until now. Maybe ts old age? Thanks, Freddy
