Im a beginning rider. Can some of you give me some average speeds (goals) to work towards on a flat course with not wind. Based on different classes of riders, what speeds would they carry for the hour.

thanks

You'd be better off working towards a flat course with some wind, since you'll have to wait quite a long time for a race that has no wind whatsoever.

Here is San Diego there is a monthly time trial race held at a 20 km very flat course. In the mornings there is little wind. Check out the results. Do not expect to do those times any time soon. For the moment consider a good training ride with some hills to be of around 15-17 mph.

Thanks alot. This helps alot. I just want to see some progess as I begin riding road bikes. I have no idea how fast I am now as I havent been out on a course that allows me to go all out with no stops yet. I just wanted a frame of reference and it sounds like if you can do 25 mph thats really pretty good.
