Kevlar shorts(4 posts)

Kevlar shortsOld Guy

So back in the 80s I had a bad crash once where I ground my hip down almost to the bone.

Yesterday a guy crashed right in front of me in the Lighthouse Crit and DID grind his hip down to the bone. Really disgusting. I recall several years ago someone was selling shorts with kevlar inserts in the hips.

Does anyone know if these are still made? Who? Where? etc, etc...

ps: Critters: don't forget to shave your forearms.

Somebody does make them, I think they market them under the name 'crash pads'; my dad has a pair for inline skating.

Thanks for the tip.

The site is www.crash-pads.com and they have a lot of different products. Their Mt. Bike short comes closest to what I want but it's definitely overkill. I'm looking for something that mostly protects the top of the femur and uses slightly thinner padding.

I'll keep searching...

Pearl Izumi made the kevlar shorts. They were the Keirin model. These were the REAL Japanese Pearls, not the POS that Phinney is schlepping off as Pearl.
