| I need some computer help.... ref. pop ups | Gall Feb 2, 2004 8:09 AM | | Hello,
Not only do I know nothing about cycling I also dont know much about computers.
Anyhows I am getting pop ups with every site I goto. This is something new for this machine.
Is there something I can do to eliminate the pop ups? Please make it easy on me LOL

| install a pop up blocker | ColnagoFE Feb 2, 2004 8:24 AM | | I'm sure that this site likes the revenue these ads bring in, but does anyone really buy anything based on popups? At the least they annoy me and I ignore them--at the most I hate the company that makes me look at them. |
| install a pop up blocker | jschrotz Feb 2, 2004 9:34 AM | | Or you could quit using the security-hole ridden Internet Exploder. Download this little gem of a browser ( http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firebird/releases/0.7/MozillaFirebird-0.7-win32.zip ) and you can block all pop-ups by going to the Tools menu, select Options and then go to Web Features and check Block Popup Windows. |
| Unfortunately I can't do that at work | ColnagoFE Feb 2, 2004 10:08 AM | | I need to develop for that evil platform. |
| In that case, please accept my condolences (nm) | jschrotz Feb 2, 2004 10:24 AM | | |
| Could be a browser hijack. | czardonic Feb 2, 2004 5:03 PM | | Do you see them for every site? They aren't that ubiquitous, so you may have had some obnoxious software slyly stashed on your computer.
I have had good luck ferreting this crap out with http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ |
