Are we in a death spiral in Iraq? I read in this morning's paper that US troops mistakenly killed two Iraq policemen yesterday. I also understand that many people in Iraq feel that the majority of people who have been imprisoned by our security forces are totally innocent.

It looks to me like we have entered into a Viet Nam like death spiral. Terrorist activities are resulting in stronger security measures on our part which is fueling still more terrorist activities. Now I'm also seeing spin off anti-American terrorist activities in Saudi Arabia too. The prognosis for the region doesn't look very promising to me at all.

In fairness, I have also read a few stories about progress being made in Iraq but frankly I heard it all before in the early 70's so I'm pretty skeptical.
I don't think it's a death spiral...........Len J

just a quagmire.

It's what happens when 90% of your effert is spent planning the invasion, and only 10% on what happens if you win.

It has appeared that all decisions are being made real time without any real plan.

It says volumes about the capability of the current administration.

Won't get much worse, nor much better for quite a few years. Even if george gets kicked out of office, things won't change. It's much too late for that. If we pulled out our troops now, Iraq would turn into a real nut-house. It would make Bosnia looks like a trip to Grandma's.
