The central valley is very forgiving, so it doesn't destroy much.

|A strong earthquake occurred at 19:15:56 (UTC) on Monday, December 22, 2003. The magnitude 6.5 event has been located in CENTRAL CALIFORNIA. The hypocentral depth was estimated to be 8 km ( 5 miles). (This event has been reviewed by a seismologist.)|

|I was in my 15th floor downtown LA office when we felt it. I expected to hear that the epicenter was LA or Ventura County. I was only off by a few counties. Our building was still rolling for at least two minutes after the quake stopped.|
|Not here in downtown. I'm in a very unusual bldg. though. nm||No_sprint|

My bldg. has all the seismic stuff in the basement. My guess is that the stuff wants to measure the ground, not the bldg. shaking, thus, it's probably a bit unusual.
|hit Paso Robles pretty bad||DougSloan|

|2 people killed and a bunch of buildings collapsed. Pretty ugly. Paso Robles is about 20 miles from the coast just south of San Simeon (Hearst Castle), where the epicenter was. They said several mountains moved and entire foot!
Paso Robles is where the Central Coast Double starts and ends. Great little town.
