It look pretty bad on the news last evening. I hope you, your family and home are all doing well. Let us know.

The only access to Simi Valley is from the east and west ends; the 118 Fwy and the old pass road and the two canyon roads on the east were all shut down after the fire jumped the freeway. Going around to the west end, with the kind of traffic there was, would have taken 2-3 hrs, so I stayed on the San Fernando Valley side. Called my home phone and got the answering machine, so I'm assuming everything's fine.

Thanks for asking.
Well that sounds encouraging. Here's to ...Live Steam

...everything is cool, and they've even reopened the freeway this evening.

...and the depot made it, too! (Check out the brickwork SP logo in the foreground.)

it was just an old relic awaiting restoration. I defended a wrongful death case that occurred almost directly in front of the depot (guy hit by 60 mph westbound Metrolink) and spent a decent amount of time there when restoration was just starting. It's always nice to ride past on Kuehner and see the old station looking so grand. I'm happy to hear everything's all right for you out there.
Was that the guy walking his dog along the right-of-way?The Walrus

...or the guy wearing headphones, listening to a Walkman while he was strolling on the tracks?

(I thought you worked for the phone company--whuzzat gotta do with Metrolink?)

Thanks for the good thoughts--you too, Steam.

Well, actually a 32 year old man and his dog. We had one potential juror who was excused because, as an animal lover, he didn't think he could be impartial in the case. To our surprise, he was prejudiced against the plaintiff's case because he couldn't find in favor of the family of someone who put an animal in a position of danger like the decedent did. I also had three Metrolink cases in the San Fernando Valley that involved guys walking right between the rails while listening to a walkman when they were plugged from behind. One guy was also looking at a porno mag, and according to a witness, massaging his . . . eh . . . midsection. I only went to work for the phone company in '99. I worked at a firm in Santa Monica before that. I still keep in touch with some of the Metrolink folks. I miss the railroad work.
Excellent!! Hope everything stays that way!Live Steam

The little depot sure looks neat. They did a wonderful job with the restoration. I'll have to pay it a visit one day, especially if we make the move to Scottsdate. Gald to hear your OK.
I hope Breck's all rightmickey-mac

Breck lives in Julian, which is right in the middle of it. Firefighters have been battling hard down there and have been concerned at times that the entire town might be lost. I hope everything is well with Breck.
