|Mini Cooper Only Parking?!?||filtersweep|

|I had the misfortune to be headed to "the mall" to watch the absolutely lovely film "Kill Bill" (which certainly contains some of the most transcendental cinematic moments of all time) when I encountered a bit of a parking issue... namely that the lot was packed.
Nestled against the handicapped spaces were several spaces marked "Mini Cooper Parking Only, all other cars will be towed." Of course it was packed with these mini coops- since they are the car-of-the-day in this neighborhood. The sign also mentioned the name of the local mini-coop dealer... so I'm sure this was a form of paid advertising.
Now I have nothing against Mini Coops- in fact I think they would make a nice "spare" to keep in the back of a pickup or SUV, but it this a sign of things to come?

|I see "Compact Only" parking all over the place, usually filled with Excursions taking up two spaces.
In private lots I suppose they can do whatever they want. I'd bet it won't last, though. Could be some backlash. What happens then there are 3 unfilled Mini slots 2 days before Christmas? Heck, you can't keep people out of the handicapped parking, and there are hefty fines and moral outrage associated with illegally parking there.

|I've never seen a "compact only- violators will be towed" sign. Usually it is in the Excursion owner's best interest NOT to park in a "compact only" spot.
Certainly there are doctors only, clergy only, etc... parking at hospitals, employee of the month parking at regular businesses, etc... but this mini coop thing takes it to a whole other level. The spaces were no smaller than any other spots- so it wasn't like motorcycle parking on an oddly shaped patch of pavement.

|Mini Cooper parking sounds like part of their eccentric ad campaign; seen all the little stickers and booklets they put in magazines?
There are also designated spots for those communal 'pick-up-drop-off' cars people share around cities.
I got the coolest 'paranoid new-car owner' spot in the underground mall lot last week- a single slot bordered on each side by giant support columns. A cozy spot.

|They have a Mini Cooper dealership inside the mall. Perhaps the spots were for test drive vehicles? Just a guess though.|| |
