Cheney: Iraq is geographic base for 9/11Duane Gran

This quote from Cheney explains to me why he hasn't held a question/answer session with the press for six months:

Cheney argued that new evidence found in Iraq proved more ties between Hussein and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda organization, and he argued that Iraq was the "geographic base" for the perpetrators of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. "If we're successful in Iraq . . . then we will have struck a major blow right at the heart of the base, if you will, the geographic base of the terrorists who had us under assault now for many years, but most especially on 9/11," he said in an hour-long interview on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Personally, I'm astonished that anyone could keep a straight face and argue that Iraq has anything to do with 9/11. When we overthrew the Taliban in Afghanistan it was clear that we were addressing a geographic base of terrorism. The training camps were well documented, but nothing of the sort is revealed in Iraq.

'Geographic base' is a meaningless phrase. Like saying 'The bank was the geographic base for the robbery.' What the hell does it MEAN? Even assuming it's true (whatever IT is) it doesn't prove any link between SH and AQ. Not that anyone seriously believes there was one.

he was still arguing the point that mohammed atta met with the iraq officials in czechoslovakia, a statement that even czech president vaclav havel said didn't happen. records checks by the fbi reveal that atta was in virginia beach, virginia during the time in question.

i was seriously amazed that russert didn't challenge him more on the crap he was spewing.

They've literally taken a page from Goebbels: if you keep repeating your lies often enough people will eventually believe them.
You mean G!ebbels, don't you? nmOldEdScott
