found this today on yahoo! news. didn't see the show, but was entertained by the image, and thought it might offer a discussion topic to the non-cycling forum. personally i'm all for it, but can foresee some awkward father-son/daughter discussions as a result.

thank you MTV Video Music Awards.

btw that's madonna and britney spears. 14 YO boys across the nation will now officially be "out of control".
yeesh, that's like britney kissing her mom. nmrufus

A 14-year old boy is thinking "hey, birthday wishes do come true!" His next thought is, "dammit, I should have been more specific."
What they do in the privacy of my bedroom would be great nmrwbadley

Why is it that pop culture celebrities feel the need to shock us? Do they really have to out-do each other for the spotlight? I guess Madonna is trying to hold on to those last glimmers of light by aligning herself with Brittany.

I saw that last night in a sports bar of all places. They had both the Jets and Giants games on and a few college games, but the big screens and the audio was from the MTV awards. Lots of cheers for that move. I figured someone would try to out-do these two like P. Diddy droppin' trow' to show us how much of a man he is. Grandstanding is cheap way to get attention.

At least those teen acts actually played instruments and could sing, and maybe more punk and G&R to kill these affected sycophantic industry salesmen at there next cluster fk? I'll even settle for a disco revival specially produced by Nile Rogers. Amen.

Are we to assume the open mouth kiss indicates they're dating or did they just want to "do something risque"? Not exaclty an apppropriate public social gesture...stupid, boring Americans.

I think I'll send them some knee pads and a box of Oreos...
My 17 yo son even thought this was over the top. nmMXL02

When did Madonna start wearing a hearing aid?mickey-mac

OK, I know it's not a hearing aid, but it seems appropriate given the age gap between the two. Boy, I can think of dozens of female pairs I'd rather see kissing than Madonkey and Spitney.

No big deal, see it all the time in hotlanta. But there's a difference, since hollywood types will pull almost any stunt for publicity value. The difference is, it's meaningless to them. Think of madonna and rodman - I chuckled at that just because they were exploiting each other equally.
