| Anybody else participating in the census' longitudinal study | chopper Aug 13, 2003 12:08 PM | | I am. They call me every four months and ask basic questions like have I taken vacation, do I have health coverage, how many bedrooms in house, etc. You can refuse to answer questions if you wish.
The reason I ask is every time they call me they send me $40 in the mail and the person who asks the questions used to send me the money by mail. No big deal a $.37 stamp and voila, my $40.
Well, I did the survey last week and they sent me the money but now they have a new process - they fedex it from the local office! Talk about a waste of money! How much does it cost to FedEx something versus using mail? I know this is peanuts but its still shows the mentality, what a waste of money. They could at least get delivery confirmation via USPS if they needed that. |
| Not necessarily, | TJeanloz Aug 13, 2003 12:21 PM | | Assuming they have a pretty large group of people doing this, they could be getting a decent rate from FedEx. It probably isn't $0.37, but it probably is only $1-$2 or so. |
| For overnight? If so, that's a good rate and surprising..nm | chopper Aug 13, 2003 12:24 PM | | |
| Yeah, volume discount, even my firm only pays ~$5 for ON (nm) | TJeanloz Aug 13, 2003 12:26 PM | | |
