SUVs ...enough already!ColnagoFE

Last time I checked people still had freedom of choice in America. Until owning an SUV becomes too expensive or too inconvenient for people they will continue to be popular. Whether the allure is image or utility the facts are that people wouldn't buy them if they didn't like something about them. You don't see soccer moms lining up to buy Kenworths or Sherman tanks so there is evidently an upper limit on size. And no amount of bellyaching by those who hate them will change their minds about owning an SUV. In fact it probably tends to polarize them even further.
You're just mad because your Hummer fell apart (nm)Silverback

You must have just bought a new ride and felt the need to justify it?

hey, if no one can see around me on the freeway and if I kill someone when I hit them in their measily little 5000 pound SUV that's their problem, not mine. Oh, and if I slow down traffic on twisty roads and brush too close to cyclists cause my driving skills aren't up to par with the vehicle I'm driving, also not my problem. It's my right as an American to do whatever the hell I want.
i've seen people in vw bugs that drive like this too (nm)ColnagoFE

If you are right, it makes a sad statement about Americans.czardonic

Freedom of choice does not make every choice the right one. Just beacuse you can doesn't mean that you should.

But you are right, Americans are typically so spoiled that when confronted with facts that might cast an unfavorable light on their choices, they will write if off as "bellyaching" and ignore it. The more persuasive the case against them, the more shrill and stubborn they become in their opposition.

Tanks and Kenworths are cost prohibitive, BTW.

And I bet 67K still exceeds the price most people pay for SUVs by at least $10K.
