SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (AP) -- A new rape law in Illinois attempts to clarify the issue of consent by emphasizing that people can change their mind while having sex.

I have sobered up and you are ugly and I am charging you with rape.....

There was a case here not long ago about this, which may have caused this law to be enacted.

The point is that consent can be given or withdrawn at any time. Now, for a sucessful prosecution, it's going to be a difficult case to make that someone was perfectly willing, then half way through changed her mind, and then clearly expressed that to the guy (I am assuming this only applies to women -- I can't see a guy changing his mind at that point).

Probably one of those laws that people make a big stink about, but rarely applies.

I really don't see the big deal. Me and my spouse have stopped in the middle of "congress" many times because one party wanted to stop. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't enjoy sex with someone who is not having a good time as well. How would you like it if you get a cramp (happened to me before) all of a sudden and the other person would not stop. It is simple courtesy to me.

I don't know what happens if you participate in "unconventional" sexual behavior. I imagine even there you are covered if you use a code word.
