Enjoy life, relax and be liberalrgj

Why do French and German workers get 30 days vacation a year and we dont. Because we are mostly non union, low paid and can't afford it. We do not have a safety net and must live to work. My old boss used to say time is money. I say, time is life.
Toss the conservatives out!!!

In South African I used to get 4 weeks paid leave. I would go away for 2 weeks, then goof off at the beach for a week, then sit at home for a week dying to get back to work.........
why did you take all the vacation at once? (nm)ColnagoFE

In France, the whole country is about to go on vacation. They don't work in August; against their religion or something.

Would you trade two weeks of vacation, the weeks of your choosing, for a pre-determined month?
well I get 20 days as isColnagoFE

if you don't count the weekends that is pretty much a month off. I think I'd rather take it spread out over the year, but then again if I was some baker in New York who doesn't get vacations a month is a pretty good deal whether it's all at once or not. I imagine the beaches and such are pretty crowded though because everyone goes at once.
France is in chaos in August - but nobody is in a rush (nm)TJeanloz

Face it, we've got it pretty good here. We've got $1.50 per gallon gas, we've got an idiot President, and we don't speak French. What could be better......?
If you need more time off, see if you can get some without pay. If you don't have enough money, spend less.

Find a job that gives you the vacation you want. Teachers get summer off. Or, unionize your company and negotiate for a month vacation. Both of those choices are available for you, right?

If you really value your time off, just quit your job totally and become a bum/hobo/homeless person/hygenically challenged windshield cleanliness engineer...

some days being a bum doesn't sound half bad ;) (nm)ColnagoFE

Why don't you leave and go there? This place is for people who enjoy opportunity.

You must be in the wrong job. I've got no union, no contract and I get 5 weeks vacation per year, 12 sick days, all holidays and we shut down between Xmas and New Years, with pay.

Throw out the liberals before we get taxed up the @ss.

What's wrong with improvement? Befor 9/11, our goverment spent $100 billion a year on military defense and couldn't stop 3 planes from attacking us. That $100 billion was more than the next 10 countries military budgets combined. Now we are spending even more, doing what we like in the world, and making more people dislike us.I think there is room for improvement and discussion in our country. Watch out for those that want everyone to conform to their views!!! and refuse change, They become obsolete.

I get NO paid vacation, NO paid sick days, NO personal days..none of that stuff. I'm not complaining either.

But what I do get is this: the opportunity to excel without incredible government restrictions, free enterprise, I live in the most productive society history has ever known, my country has the best health care in the world - nobody else is even close, most technologically advanced country, and I could go on and on..

Life is about trade-offs and compromise...then again..that kinda defines marriage, but I digress....

In most jobs, if you stay on long enough, you earn extended vacation from your EMPLOYER not some mandated GOVERNMENTAL vacation. If you don't like our system, move to Canada or France or Australia. I'm not writing that facetiously, but in all seriousness.

By the way...I really don't get paid vacation -nor does any other 'self-employed' person. My business runs while I'm away. But I do take time off - a week here, a few days there. In fact, I take most summer Friday afternoons off to ride. I couldn't do that in an authoritarian society controlled by the whims of government...then again, I couldn't get fired either.
