|The issue is they are trying to protect their language and culture from becoming too anglicized. I, for one, don't blame them.
English is my only language. I don't have anything against English, it gets the job done, but it's not a pretty language. I love to listen to people speaking Italian or French even though I can't understand what they are saying. They are much more beautiful languages than English and as such deserve protection.
Americans, on the other hand, would love to have authorization for use of certain French words like say "Champaign."
