the beer to get was Coors, but being in Tennessee, you had to have a buddy who went out west to bring it back, this was early to mid 70s...my senior year, 74-75 they introduced Strohs to the area and it became the trendy beer. I grew up in Chattanooga, which is on the GA border. Frat boys would drive up from Atlanta to buy Stroh's by the case as it wasnt carried there yet....my beer of choice while out in bars though was dark schlitz draft...

I graduated in '78. The Coors at the time had those little push button tops. I always thought they were a neat idea. I grew up in NYC and the PBRs were cheap. When we thought we were cool and wanted to impress we bought Lowenbrau. We used to make trips to Canada when skiing in Vt. to buy Brodeur Canadian beer. It has twice the alcohol :O)

We used to play "Quarters" with the cheapest beer we could find. No sense in throwing up good, expensive beer, you know :O) Home Beer and I think it was Penn Beer and even Rolling Rock (they were cheap then) were the beers of choice.

forgot all about those beer cans with the two buttons on top....for awhile you could get a beer called Weidemann or something like that where I grew up, think it was brewed in Cincinnati, for $1.49 a six pack...the best deal in town though was beer night at the local minor league team..they would roam the stands selling Moosehead, the canadian import, for 25 cents a bottle brought to you.......what would that run now in a ballpark? $5?

Rainier Ale, pure and simple. Even then I was a beer snob!? ;-)

I used to buy that stuff for $.95 a six-pack. I still hold it partially for my failure at college.

PS you can't call yourself a real beer drinker unless you've consumed at least one case of Pickett's.
